الملخّص

Abstract Modular multilevel converters have become the preferred topology for high-voltage direct current transmission systems due to their scalability, superior power quality, and suitability for large-scale grid integration. In such systems, ensuring fault ride-through capability and continuous operation during grid disturbances, while avoiding reliance on direct grid-voltage measurements, remains a critical challenge. This work proposes a predictive grid-voltage estimation approach that provides reliable grid-voltage information without relying on physical sensors even under balanced, unbalanced, and faulted grid conditions. Combined with a model predictive control-based arm current control strategy, the proposed approach ensures compliance with key ancillary grid services, including reactive power support in accordance with grid codes, mitigation of active power oscillations, and suppression of circulating currents. Simulation results demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in maintaining stable operation under both normal and faulty conditions.
